Ingredients
For the Dough
- ½ cup Low Fat Milk
- ½ cup Water (plus 1 tablespoon extra, optional)
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons Instant Yeast
- 1 Egg
- 3 tablespoons Plain Greek Yogurt
- 2 teaspoons Sea Salt
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 cups Cake Flour
For the Topping
- Nutella, as needed
- Fresh Strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Warm Liquids and Proof Yeast: Warm the low-fat milk and half cup water in the microwave until warm but not hot. Add sugar and instant yeast to the warm liquid mixture and let it proof for about 10 minutes until foamy and puffy.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, Greek yogurt, and sea salt until well combined.
- Combine Yeast Mixture: Once the yeast mixture has proofed, add it to the egg and yogurt mixture and stir to smooth consistency.
- Add Flours and Form Dough: Gradually add the all-purpose and cake flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough begins to come together.
- Knead Dough: Knead the dough until it forms a smooth ball. Add up to 1 tablespoon of extra water if the dough feels too dry or tough to knead, but use sparingly.
- First Rise: Lightly oil a bowl with olive oil and place the dough inside. Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for 30 to 60 minutes until doubled in size.
- Prepare Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat. Using a lightly oiled paper towel, wipe down the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Shape Dough: On a floured surface, divide the dough into 6 pieces by cutting in half, then into thirds. Roll each piece into an oval or round shape about ¼ to ½ inch thick. It does not have to be perfectly even.
- Grill Dough: Place each dough piece on the preheated grill. Grill for a few minutes on each side until grill marks appear and the dough is cooked through but not dry. Avoid overcooking.
- Add Nutella and Strawberries: Once grilled, immediately spread a generous amount of Nutella over each pizza base, then top with freshly sliced strawberries.
- Serve: Serve the Nutella strawberry dessert pizzas immediately to enjoy warm and fresh.
Notes
- Use warm water and milk but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- The extra tablespoon of water is optional based on dough consistency; add slowly.
- Rolling dough unevenly adds to the rustic charm and allows for varied texture.
- Do not overcook the dough on the grill to prevent dryness.
- Serve immediately for best taste and texture.
