This fresh and vibrant Strawberry Avocado Salsa combines sweet strawberries, creamy avocado, and crisp cucumber with zesty lime juice and fragrant basil. Perfect as a healthy snack or appetizer, it brings a delightful balance of flavors and textures, making it a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Fresh Produce

  • 1/2 red onion, minced
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb strawberries, hulled and diced to 1/2″
  • 1 avocado, pitted and diced to 1/2″
  • 1/2 English cucumber, skin and seeds removed, diced to 1/2″
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Seasonings

  • 1-2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt, plus more to taste
  • Cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Macerate onions and garlic: Combine the minced red onion, minced garlic, fresh lime juice, and salt in a large bowl. Toss well to coat the onion and garlic evenly with the lime juice, then let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to mellow and develop flavor.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and toss: After the maceration period, add the diced strawberries, diced avocado, diced cucumber, and chopped fresh basil to the bowl. Gently toss all ingredients together to combine, taking care not to mash the avocado.
  3. Season and serve: Adjust seasoning by adding cracked black pepper and additional salt to taste. Serve the salsa immediately with tortilla chips or as a fresh topping for grilled dishes.

Notes

  • For best flavor, serve the salsa fresh; avocado browning occurs if left too long.
  • You can substitute fresh cilantro for basil if preferred.
  • Dicing ingredients uniformly ensures even flavor distribution.
  • This salsa pairs well with grilled chicken, fish, or as a dip with chips.
  • To keep avocado green longer, toss it with lime juice just before serving.
