Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breasts
Sauce
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup yellow mustard
- 1 ½ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup salted butter, melted
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ tsp. dried leaf oregano
- ½ tsp. pepper
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ cup heavy cream (added at the end)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: Place the boneless skinless chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker in an even layer to ensure even cooking.
- Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, melted butter, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to create a smooth honey mustard mixture. Do not add the heavy cream yet.
- Combine: Pour the prepared honey mustard sauce evenly over the chicken breasts in the slow cooker, making sure they are fully covered.
- Cook: Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on LOW for 6 hours to allow the chicken to become tender and infused with the sauce.
- Add cream: After the 6-hour cook time, stir in the heavy cream to the slow cooker to add richness and creaminess to the sauce.
- Shred the chicken: Use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker, mixing it thoroughly with the creamy honey mustard sauce for a consistent texture.
- Serve: Spoon the creamy honey mustard chicken onto plates or over your favorite sides and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- For thicker sauce, cook with the lid off for an additional 15-20 minutes after adding the cream.
- This dish pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- To make this recipe dairy-free, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream.
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for a juicier texture.
