Ingredients
Chocolate Mixture
- 6 oz / 170 g white chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (or shortening)
- 3 drops lavender candy oil
- A few drops purple food coloring (oil-based)
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate Chips: Add the white chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each until fully melted. Alternatively, use a double boiler method by placing a heat-proof bowl with chocolate chips and coconut oil over a simmering pot of water, stirring continuously until melted.
- Add Lavender Oil and Colorant: Stir in the 3 drops of lavender candy oil and a few drops of oil-based purple food coloring into the melted chocolate until evenly incorporated.
- Mix Well: Gently stir the mixture until the lavender oil and the purple color are fully blended with no visible streaks.
- Transfer into Pastry Bag: Pour the chocolate mixture into a disposable piping bag, then snip off the tip to prepare for piping.
- Pipe Chocolate Chips: Line a small cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. Pipe small dot-shaped chocolate chips onto the sheet, mimicking store-bought chocolate chip size, until all the mixture is used.
- Freeze Chocolate Chips: Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes until the chocolate chips are completely solidified.
- Release and Store: Carefully peel the chocolate chips off the wax/parchment paper or gently bend the paper until the chocolate chips fall off. Transfer the chips into an airtight container for storage until ready to use.
Notes
- Use oil-based purple food coloring to ensure it mixes well with the chocolate without seizing.
- If coconut oil is not available, shortening can be used as a substitute for melting with chocolate.
- Store the lavender chocolate chips in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain freshness.
- These lavender chocolate chips add a unique floral note and purple color, making them perfect for decorating cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts.
- Handle the chocolate gently to avoid bringing moisture, which can cause chocolate to seize.
