This Greek Yogurt Pizza features a quick and easy homemade crust that uses Greek yogurt and flour for a tender, soft base. Topped with your favorite pizza sauce, gooey melted cheese, and any toppings you desire, this recipe offers a wholesome, delicious twist on traditional pizza. Baking the crust first before adding the toppings ensures a perfect texture every time.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (245g)
  • 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour (189g) (or gluten-free flour)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon granulated garlic powder (optional)

Toppings

  • ⅓ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or pre-shredded blend)
  • Toppings of choice (such as pepperoni, vegetables, olives, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 425ºF (220ºC) and prepare a large broiler-safe baking pan or baking stone for baking the pizza crust.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Measure out the flour, baking powder, salt, and optional granulated garlic powder into a bowl and whisk well to combine for an even distribution of leavening and seasoning.
  3. Add Yogurt: Add the Greek yogurt to the bowl with the dry ingredients, beginning the dough formation process.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Slowly mix with a silicone spatula until large lumps form. Due to the sticky nature of the dough, use a clean or gloved hand to gently work the lumps and flour together into a cohesive mass.
  5. Knead Dough: Gently knead the dough in the bowl until it becomes smooth and all flour is absorbed, forming a solid dough ball.
  6. Shape Dough: Place the dough ball on a large sheet of parchment paper and press or roll it into a round flat circle about 9 ½-10 inches in diameter and ¼-⅓ inch thick. If sticky, lightly dust with flour or use an additional parchment sheet to roll out.
  7. Smooth Dough: Smooth out any wrinkles in the parchment by gently lifting and flattening the dough and paper to maintain an even shape.
  8. Bake Crust Initially: Transfer the parchment with the shaped dough to the prepared baking pan or stone. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes to partially cook the crust.
  9. Flip Crust: Remove the pan and carefully flip the half-baked dough over completely to ensure even cooking on both sides.
  10. Add Toppings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the flipped crust, then sprinkle the shredded cheese and add your desired toppings.
  11. Bake Pizza: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the crust edges start to brown.
  12. Optional Broil: If desired and if your pan or stone is broiler-safe, switch the oven to broil and cook for 1-3 minutes more until the cheese bubbles and browns. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  13. Cool and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven carefully and allow it to cool for 2-5 minutes before slicing. Optionally garnish with grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, or a drizzle of hot honey for extra flavor.

Notes

  • This recipe can be made gluten-free by substituting the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Be gentle while kneading as the dough is sticky; using lightly floured hands or gloves helps.
  • Using parchment paper facilitates easy transfer and prevents sticking.
  • Baking the crust first before adding toppings prevents sogginess and ensures a crispier base.
  • Optional broiling adds a nice golden finish to cheese but requires close attention to avoid burning.
  • Customize toppings as preferred to suit dietary needs or taste preferences.
