These Greek Chicken Burgers are a flavorful and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. Made with ground chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh herbs, and baby spinach, they are packed with Mediterranean flavors. Cooked to golden perfection in a skillet or grilled, they can be served plain or topped with classic ingredients like butter lettuce, tzatziki sauce, crumbled feta cheese, and fresh veggies for a delicious and satisfying meal.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • ¼ cup diced red onion
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 cup loosely packed baby spinach, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Toppings

  • Butter lettuce leaves
  • Tzatziki sauce
  • Crumbled feta cheese
  • Sliced onion
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced avocado

Instructions

  1. Make the burger patties: In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, diced red onion, minced garlic, finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes, roughly chopped baby spinach, chopped fresh dill, dried oregano, kosher salt, and ground black pepper. Use your hands to mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Divide the mixture evenly and form into 4 large burger patties.
  2. Cook the patties: Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook them for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Alternatively, grill the patties over medium heat until fully cooked.
  3. Assemble the chicken burger: You can enjoy the patties plain or assemble them into burgers. To assemble, place each patty on a butter lettuce leaf and top with tzatziki sauce, crumbled feta cheese, sliced onion, tomato, and avocado as desired. Serve immediately and enjoy a fresh, flavorful Greek-inspired chicken burger.

Notes

  • Ensure chicken patties reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
  • Sun-dried tomatoes add a concentrated flavor; rehydrate slightly in warm water if very dry.
  • These burgers can be cooked on a grill or stovetop, adjust cooking times as necessary.
  • Butter lettuce leaves can serve as a low-carb, gluten-free bun substitute.
  • Store leftover patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
