Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- ½ cup (120 ml) unsweetened almond milk, or milk of choice
- ½ cup (120 g) cottage cheese, 2% fat used
- 1 cup (150 g) strawberries, frozen recommended
- 1 sliced banana, frozen recommended
Optional Ingredients
- 1 scoop (30 g) protein powder
- Maple syrup, for a sweeter smoothie
- ¼ tsp vanilla bean paste
- 2-3 ice cubes, if using fresh strawberries
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add almond milk and cottage cheese to a food processor or high-speed blender, followed by the frozen strawberries and sliced frozen banana. This layering ensures smoother blending.
- Add Optional Enhancements: For extra sweetness, include maple syrup and vanilla bean paste. For additional protein, add a scoop of protein powder.
- Add Ice if Needed: If using fresh strawberries instead of frozen, toss in 2-3 ice cubes to chill the smoothie.
- Blend Smoothly: Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy with no chunks of fruit remaining. This usually takes about 1-2 minutes depending on your blender.
- Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy right away. You can also add your favorite toppings like nuts, seeds, or fresh fruit for extra texture.
Notes
- Using frozen fruit helps create a thicker, creamier texture without needing too much ice.
- You can substitute almond milk with any milk of your choice, including dairy or other plant-based options.
- Cottage cheese adds a creamy texture and boosts protein content, making this smoothie more filling.
- Add sweeteners like maple syrup sparingly, especially if the fruits are already sweet.
- Consume immediately for the best texture and freshness.
