Cool Ranch Hummus is a creamy and flavorful twist on traditional hummus, incorporating tangy apple cider vinegar, dried dill, onion and garlic powders, and optional nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor. This easy-to-make dip is smooth, refreshing, and perfect for snacking or entertaining.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: About 2½ cups

Ingredients

Hummus Ingredients

  • 18 ounces (510 g) cooked chickpeas, or 2 (15-ounce/425 g) cans unsalted chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) water
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 2½ tablespoons (38 ml) olive oil, or additional water for a lighter version
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill
  • 1½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or more to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup (15 g) nutritional yeast, for a cheesy flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chickpeas: If desired, peel the chickpeas by removing their skins to achieve an extra-smooth texture in your hummus. This step is optional and can improve the creaminess significantly.
  2. Add Ingredients to Blender: Place the chickpeas, water, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, onion powder, dried dill, garlic powder, salt, and nutritional yeast (if using) into a high-powered blender or food processor.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Blend all ingredients until completely smooth, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure an even consistency throughout the hummus.
  4. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the hummus and adjust the salt or any other seasoning as needed to suit your preference.
  5. Serve or Store: Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and serve immediately, or refrigerate until chilled for later use. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Notes

  • Peeling chickpeas is optional but helps achieve a smoother texture.
  • Use olive oil for richer flavor or water for a lighter hummus.
  • Nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor and extra nutrients but can be omitted if preferred.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated and consume within 4 days for best freshness.
