Perfectly baked to a golden brown and brushed with buttery sweetness, this bread offers a comforting dessert or breakfast treat with the classic flavors of cinnamon and sugar in every bite.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Bread Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ¼ cups (306 g) whole milk
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste

Topping Ingredients

  • ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray an 8 ½ x 4 ½-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray to prepare for baking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and kosher salt. Stir them together gently to ensure even distribution.
  3. Whisk wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk, room temperature egg, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla bean paste until smooth and well combined.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures: Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture. Stir gently until just combined making sure not to overmix; the batter should remain slightly runny.
  5. Pour batter into pan: Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly for uniform baking.
  6. Bake the bread: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60 to 70 minutes. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out with a few crumbs but no wet batter. The bread top should be golden brown.
  7. Cool the bread: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then carefully take the bread out of the pan and place it on a large piece of parchment paper.
  8. Brush with melted butter: While the bread is warm, gently brush the entire surface with the melted unsalted butter to prepare for the cinnamon sugar coating.
  9. Prepare cinnamon sugar topping: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, mixing well.
  10. Sprinkle topping: Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the butter-coated bread, turning the loaf as needed to coat all sides. Any leftover topping can be saved for later use.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender and moist.
  • Use an 8 ½ x 4 ½-inch loaf pan for best results.
  • Let the bread cool slightly before applying the cinnamon sugar topping to help it stick properly.
  • Leftover cinnamon sugar mixture can be stored in an airtight container for future use.
  • Ensure the egg is at room temperature for better batter consistency.
