Ingredients
Meat Mixture
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 pounds ground beef
- ½ cup diced yellow onion
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
Assembly
- 24 dinner rolls or Hawaiian sweet rolls (do not separate)
- 9 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a rimmed baking sheet to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Cook Meat and Onion: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil, then sauté the diced onion and ground beef, breaking the meat apart with a wooden spoon until it is no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Season Meat: Stir in soy sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture for savory depth.
- Add Garlic: Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds to infuse flavor without burning.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste and season with additional salt and pepper if needed, then remove the skillet from heat.
- Prepare Rolls: Slice the dinner rolls horizontally and place the bottom halves evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
- Assemble Sliders: Evenly distribute the cooked beef mixture over the bottom halves of the rolls, then layer with cheddar cheese slices.
- Top and Garnish: Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese, brush them with melted butter, and sprinkle with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake: Bake the sliders for 15 minutes, or until the rolls turn golden brown and the cheese melts beautifully.
Notes
- Do not separate the rolls before baking—they stay softer and easier to handle.
- For a spicier twist, add a dash of hot sauce or chopped jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- Use Hawaiian sweet rolls for a slightly sweet contrast, or classic dinner rolls for a more neutral flavor.
- Drain excess fat after cooking the beef to prevent greasy sliders.
- Feel free to substitute cheddar with American cheese or your favorite melting cheese.
