Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 sheets of vegan friendly puff pastry
- 1 jar of Biscoff spread (approximately 250g)
- 1 pack of Biscoff biscuits (about 130g)
- Dairy-free milk (for brushing, about 2 tablespoons)
- Icing sugar, for dusting (optional)
- Flour, for dusting (optional, small amount)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 220°C fan and line two large baking trays with greaseproof paper to prepare for baking.
- Prepare the pastry: Unroll one puff pastry sheet on its baking paper to prevent sticking and lightly roll over any wrinkles. Dust with flour if the pastry is sticky to handle.
- Spread the Biscoff: Using 3 to 4 tablespoons of Biscoff spread, cover half of the puff pastry sheet evenly, leaving the other half plain.
- Add crushed biscuits: Sprinkle crushed Biscoff biscuits generously over the spread and press them gently so they stick.
- Fold the pastry: Lift the plain half of the pastry and fold it over the spread side to form a sealed parcel.
- Cut and twist: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry parcel into strips of desired width, then twist each strip and roll it into a spiral shape.
- Arrange on tray: Place each spiral on the baking tray, spaced about 2 inches apart to allow room for puffing during baking.
- Brush with dairy-free milk: Lightly brush the tops and sides of each swirl with dairy-free milk to encourage a golden, flaky crust.
- Optional sprinkling: Sprinkle extra crushed Biscoff biscuits on top of the swirls for enhanced texture and flavor.
- Bake: Bake one tray at a time in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the pastry turns golden brown and puffed.
- Cool and repeat: Remove the tray from the oven and bake the second tray following the same process. Allow the swirls to cool slightly before serving.
- Serve: Finish with a light dusting of icing sugar if desired for a touch of sweetness and presentation.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is properly thawed if frozen to achieve the best puff and flakiness.
- Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter for clean cuts to prevent the pastry from tearing.
- Twisting the pastry strips tightly helps to create distinct swirl patterns.
- Brushing with dairy-free milk is crucial for the golden finish and flakiness, so don’t skip it.
- Adding crushed biscuits both inside and on top gives an extra crunchy texture and intensifies the Biscoff flavor.
- Serve these swirls warm or at room temperature for the best taste experience.
