This easy 2 Ingredient Dough Naan Bread recipe uses no yeast and combines self-rising flour with Greek yogurt to create soft, fluffy naan in just 10 minutes. Perfect for quick homemade flatbreads without the wait time of traditional yeast dough, cooked on the stovetop for an authentic result.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 naans

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 3/4 cups self-rising flour (use gluten-free if needed)
  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt (vegan Greek yogurt, non-fat, full-fat or reduced fat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Optional

  • 1 tablespoon butter of choice (for brushing, optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, salt, and Greek yogurt. Mix thoroughly until a dough begins to form, then use your hands to knead and shape it into a large ball.
  2. Prepare Dough Portions: Lightly flour a clean wooden or kitchen surface. Sprinkle additional flour on top of the dough ball, then transfer it to this surface. Flatten the dough into a circular shape and divide it into 8 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a rectangular naan shape.
  3. Cook the Naan: Heat a non-stick saucepan over medium heat. Once hot, add one piece of flattened dough and cook for approximately 3 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for 2 minutes. Repeat this process with the remaining dough portions until all naans are cooked through and slightly browned.
  4. Optional Finishing Touch: If desired, brush each cooked naan with melted butter immediately after cooking to add flavor and sheen.

Notes

  • You can use gluten-free self-rising flour to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • Greek yogurt can be full-fat, reduced fat, non-fat, or vegan yogurt based on your preference.
  • Do not skip the flouring step to prevent the dough from sticking to the surface while shaping.
  • Cook the naan on medium heat to ensure the bread cooks fully without burning.
  • Brushing with butter after cooking is optional but adds extra flavor and softness.
