Ingredients
Marinade:
- 1/2 cup hot sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1.5 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
Chicken and Cooking:
- 4 thinly pounded chicken breast cutlets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 scallions, chopped finely (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a bowl, combine the hot sauce, sour cream, ketchup, honey, smoked paprika, and ground cumin. Whisk the ingredients thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
- Marinate the chicken: Pour half of the marinade over the chicken breast cutlets arranged in a shallow dish. Cover the dish with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate. For best flavor, marinate overnight, but a minimum of 30 minutes will suffice to absorb the spices.
- Heat the oil and garlic: In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
- Cook the chicken: Lower the heat to medium and add the marinated chicken to the skillet. Cook for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is browned on both sides and fully cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Warm the remaining sauce: Pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and heat gently over low-medium heat until warmed through, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Serve: Plate the cooked chicken cutlets and drizzle with the warmed sauce on top.
- Add garnish: Sprinkle the finely chopped scallions over the chicken and sauce for a fresh, mild onion flavor and vibrant color.
- Enjoy: Serve immediately while warm and savor the spicy-sweet flavor combination.
Notes
- Marinating overnight enhances the depth of flavor but is not mandatory.
- Use thinly pounded chicken cutlets for quick, even cooking.
- Adjust hot sauce quantity to control spiciness level to your taste.
- Can be served with rice, vegetables, or a simple salad for a complete meal.
- If desired, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt for a tangier taste and similar texture.
