Ingredients
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 3/4 cup water
- Juice of 1 orange (about 1/4 cup)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, water, orange juice, cinnamon stick, ground cloves (if using), and a pinch of salt.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries begin to pop and soften.
- Continue simmering for another 5 minutes until sauce reaches desired thickness.
- Remove from heat, discard the cinnamon stick, and let cool to room temperature.
- Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate if not serving immediately. Sauce will thicken as it cools.
Notes
- Add orange zest for a brighter citrus flavor.
- Make ahead up to 3 days and refrigerate.
- Perfect as a side dish, sandwich spread, or dessert topping.
