A bright, spiced cranberry sauce sweetened with orange juice and cinnamon—perfect for holiday meals or as a tangy condiment.

  • Total Time: 19 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Juice of 1 orange (about 1/4 cup)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, water, orange juice, cinnamon stick, ground cloves (if using), and a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries begin to pop and soften.
  3. Continue simmering for another 5 minutes until sauce reaches desired thickness.
  4. Remove from heat, discard the cinnamon stick, and let cool to room temperature.
  5. Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate if not serving immediately. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Notes

  • Add orange zest for a brighter citrus flavor.
  • Make ahead up to 3 days and refrigerate.
  • Perfect as a side dish, sandwich spread, or dessert topping.
