Honey Garlic Chicken Bites are succulent, bite-sized pieces of chicken breast coated in a flavorful mix of garlic, honey, and soy sauce with just a hint of heat from red pepper flakes and hot sauce. This quick and easy stovetop recipe is perfect for a weeknight meal served over rice, pasta, or alongside vegetables.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Chicken and Coating

  • 1.5 pounds chicken breasts, chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Sauce and Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 5-6 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce or sriracha

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with a paper towel. In a large bowl, combine the chicken with corn starch, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to coat all chicken pieces evenly.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large heavy-duty pan over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
  3. Make the Sauce: While the chicken cooks, whisk together crushed garlic, olive oil, honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, and hot sauce in a small bowl until fully combined.
  4. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken in the pan. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the chicken is well coated. For a stickier, thicker sauce, cook for a bit longer.
  5. Serve: Remove from heat and serve the honey garlic chicken bites hot over rice, pasta, or alongside your favorite vegetables.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can add more corn starch or double coat the chicken before cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce according to your spice preference or substitute with more honey for a milder taste.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor, but garlic powder can be used in a pinch.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the sauce at its best consistency.
