Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt (divided)
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (1 ½ sticks, divided)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 8 ounces shredded mild cheddar cheese
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, add 1 stick (½ cup) of butter. Microwave for 30 seconds or until melted. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Add the melted butter and milk, whisking just until the flour is wet—do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese with a spoon.
- Drop heaping spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
- Meanwhile, melt the remaining ¼ cup (½ stick) of butter in a small bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds.
- Add ¼ teaspoon salt and parsley to the melted butter and stir.
- Remove the biscuits from the oven and brush them with the melted butter mixture. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes to the butter mixture.
- If you prefer a lighter biscuit, you can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
- Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container and reheat them in the oven to keep them warm and fluffy.
