Ingredients
Salmon
- 8 oz cooked salmon
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Za’atar seasoning or preferred seasoning blend, to taste
Pasta and Sauce
- 1 pound cooked pasta
- 1 block feta cheese (about 7-8 oz)
- 1 (10 oz) container cherry tomatoes
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Olive oil, for drizzling
- Seasonings (salt, pepper) to taste
Instructions
- Prepare and season the salmon: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Season the salmon evenly with salt, pepper, and Za’atar or your preferred seasoning blend to enhance its flavor.
- Bake the salmon: Place the seasoned salmon on a small baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Remove from oven and set aside. Once slightly cooled, break the salmon into bite-size pieces and keep ready to combine with the pasta and sauce later.
- Prepare the baked feta tomato sauce: In a baking dish, combine the cherry tomatoes and a whole block of feta cheese. Add the minced garlic, season with salt and pepper, and drizzle generously with olive oil. Place this baking dish alongside the salmon in the oven to bake together for 25 minutes.
- Mash the feta and tomatoes: After baking, use a fork or potato masher to crush the softened cherry tomatoes and feta cheese until they form a creamy, uniform sauce.
- Combine pasta and sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the baking dish with the feta tomato sauce. Stir well to coat all the pasta with the sauce thoroughly.
- Add the salmon: Gently fold the flaky salmon pieces into the pasta and sauce mixture ensuring even distribution.
- Serve: Transfer to serving plates and enjoy your flavorful baked feta pasta with salmon immediately.
Notes
- Za’atar seasoning adds a unique Middle Eastern flavor, but feel free to substitute with herbs like oregano or thyme if desired.
- Cook pasta al dente to avoid it becoming too soft after baking.
- You can use fresh salmon fillets or pre-cooked salmon, just adjust baking time accordingly for freshness and texture.
- For a creamier sauce, drizzle extra olive oil or add a splash of pasta cooking water when mixing.
- This dish reheats well in the oven or microwave but may lose some texture.
