These Asian steak bites are tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, featuring a perfect mix of sweet and savory spices. They’re cooked to perfection and make for an irresistible appetizer or main dish.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds sirloin tip steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Asian sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 ½ tablespoons canola oil
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak: Place the cubed sirloin tip steak into a medium bowl. In a small bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, honey, Asian sweet chili sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the meat and stir to coat evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and let the steak marinate for at least 20-30 minutes at room temperature.
  2. Cook the steak: Heat a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat. Add 1 ½ tablespoons of canola oil to the hot skillet. Add half of the marinated steak cubes to the skillet in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure the beef browns rather than steams. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the steak from the marinade to the skillet, allowing excess marinade to drip back into the bowl.
  3. Brown the steak: Cook the steak bites for 4-6 minutes or until browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove the cooked steak bites from the skillet and transfer to a plate. Add the remaining marinated steak bites to the skillet and cook for another 4-6 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Serve: Discard any excess marinade. Transfer the second batch of cooked steak bites to the plate with the first batch. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can drizzle some additional Asian sweet chili sauce on top before serving.
  • These steak bites pair wonderfully with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables.
  • If you’re short on time, marinate the steak for just 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients, but the longer it marinates, the better the flavor!
