Ingredients
- For the Pita Bread:
- Rhodes frozen dinner rolls (as many as you want to make)
- Flour (for dusting)
- Olive oil (optional, for brushing)
Instructions
- Thaw & Rise: Place the frozen Rhodes rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover them lightly with plastic wrap sprayed with nonstick spray to prevent sticking. Let the rolls thaw and rise at room temperature for 3–5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Flatten into Discs: Lightly flour your surface and rolling pin (or use your hands). Gently flatten each roll into a 4–5 inch round, about ¼ inch thick. Don’t press too hard to keep the puff potential for that pita pocket texture.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and preheat for about 3 minutes.
- Air Fry: Place 1–2 flattened rounds in the air fryer basket (don’t overcrowd). Air fry for 3–4 minutes, flip, and cook for another 2–3 minutes until lightly golden and puffed.
- Optional Brushing: After cooking, brush with olive oil or garlic butter for extra flavor if desired.
- Serve: Slice the pita bread in half for pockets or keep them whole for dipping with hummus, tzatziki, or your favorite spread.
Notes
- If you don’t have Rhodes rolls, you can use any frozen dinner rolls or even pizza dough for this recipe.
- The pitas are best served warm, but they can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the air fryer or microwave.
- For extra flavor, you can sprinkle some za’atar seasoning or sesame seeds on top of the pita before air frying.
